Choose Organic Veggie Burgers For Healthier Meals

By Scott Morris

Most people who want to win the battle of the bulge want to do it for life. It is just that rigid meal plans are impossible to enjoy for the years to come. In recent, food manufacturers have come up with ways to make guilty pleasures healthy. Foods like organic veggie burgers, meatless sausage and deli meats made from plants can make an incredible difference.

Most associate the latter with something that is bland, gritty, and unable to fill the typical stomach. There are many dips of vegetarian burger patties that come in a number of flavors and textures. However, there are more food makers that are striving to make their product taste like the real thing.

Many vegetarian burger patties are made from a protein base that acts as a binder for chopped or minced fresh vegetables that may include leafy dark greens, carrots, onions, and sprouts. Grains may include brown rice, quinoa, or barley. Most organic brands try to include as many vegetables as possible and fewer starches, like potatoes, which do not offer the same fibrous portion.

These products can be prepared just like the meat products but what most people like is the time it takes to cook. Many of these can simply be heated in a microwave for a few seconds. For those who like to cook on high heat, use caution when trying to get crispy edges since there is no animal oil to lubricate the filling and it can easily become inedible.

Since sandwiches are generally considered to be fun food, some wonder how they can keep the healthy momentum going. One way would be to include a green salad with as many crunchy vegetables as possible. Instead of croutons or cheese crumbles, try chopped multicolored bell peppers. Although fried green beans do not pack the same nutritional punch as a cup of steamed kale, vegetable slices lightly cooked in tempura batter is better than greasy fries loaded with salt.

The great thing about this lifestyle is that some will stay at their same goal for months or even years before going full vegetarian. However, some who may see the results of weight loss may be inspired to increase their meatless days gradually. On days when they have a traditional burger craving, they can try the vegetarian version and discover something that not only tastes great but is healthy.

For those who want to start small, they should go small. Organic cereal, eggs, or even dairy milk are inexpensive foods that can be compared to the nonorganic versions. Then it may help to increase vegetable portions by adding a green salad to all meals or buying fresh instead of canned. Sometimes, making gradual changes makes the transition much easier, especially if they can see the results when they get on a scale.

Those that are on the higher side are not necessarily better but most say the flavor profile is perfect, if not close to it. While there are some quality brands that offer a lot for the money, it helps to try and decide. Whatever the choices, dieters need to realize is that good health cannot be bought.
