What To Look For In Fresh Fish Hawaii

By Frank Gray

The tuna comes in many different forms, and there are many fantastic tasting species that are highly available in the areas of ocean that surrounds the Hawaiin islands. Two prime examples of fresh fish Hawaii that are fished quite frequently by these islanders are the yellowfish as well as the bigeye. The people of these islands have called them ahi for a long time, a word that means fire when translated.

When you are fishing to make money, you are trying to get fully grown animals that people will actually be able to eat. That is why the many fishing companies who are looking for yellowfin and bigeye tuna will send their hooks all the way down to the bottom. This is where the adults are known to roam around in their search for food.

It is so true that everyone has their own particular taste. Some people are more choosy than others, and people who have been eating food for a long time and have a very sophisticated taste will be able to tell the difference between certain breeds. To others, it might not make a difference and they just like it all.

Almost every who has had a tunafish sandwich on a picnic or at the beach has heard of albacore. This is known for being quite mild and light for those of us who do not particularly care for that fishy taste. The ones that are caught around these islands have a tendency to have a higher concentration of oils and fats.

If you have ever seen a cartoon depicting ocean creatures, there has probably been a swordfish in there somewhere because of the hilarious animation opportunities there. In real life, the swordfish can actually be a very tasty meal that can feed many. This is especially true on these islands since the specimens caught are so large.

One of the best tasting marlins to eat that can be caught around the Hawaiin Islands is known as the nairagi. This is the native word for striped, and the creature gets its name from the virbrant patterns of beautiful colors on its body. This species is generally not very large.

No two fishes taste exactly alike if you really know your seafood, and the same is true with the blue marlin. If you choose to indulge in this tasty treat, you will find that it has a flavor similar to its marlin cousins. However, it is still distinct from those other species.

It is nice to be able to add something different to a sea food dish that successfully switches up the menu while at the same time pleasing all of your family or guests. A good way to do this is find out the different breeds that are available and in your price range which have tastes that people are comfortable and familiar with. A good one to try would be the shortbill spearfish, which is a smaller relative of the other billfish but still has a comparable texture and taste.
